2/ Remember Tanya McDowell or Kelly Williams Bolar? Charged criminally for trying to send their kids to better schools. It’s easy for people like Pete who were born on 3rd base but act like they hit a home run, to pathologize poor POC, than to acknowledge structural inequality.
3/The quality of education kids have access to depends on their zip code. Given redlining & even modern housing discrimination, poor children of color never have a shot at receiving equal access to good schools.
