On a train back from Newcastle, reading the Labour manifesto and (inspired by last retweet) listening to Wham - Last Christmas, which is clearly the best Christmas song ever
This is great on the right to food. Would be relevant to the right to an adequate standard of living provided for in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which includes adequate food, clothing and housing #LabourManifesto
Not a massive amount of detail but good to see this on higher education, as we prepare for Day 1 of the #UCUstrike
Especially given how much the govt repeats the rise in employment rates and ignores the insecurity and low pay that's gone alongside it, it makes sense that the section on workers' rights starts by focusing on the eradication of in-work poverty
A lot of focus is on planned move to 32 hour week but will be key to see how really excessive hours are tackled, as well as sectors excluded from existing limits -as with some domestic workers ( https://www.labourexploitation.org/news/international-domestic-workers’-day-2019-rights-domestic-workers-uk-need-far-reaching-and)
Also good to see this detail on methods for enforcement

One thing to add is that it's crucial to have a firewall between labour enforcement and immigration - see e.g. https://www.labourexploitation.org/news/will-new-single-enforcement-body-ensure-decent-work-all (Hopefully this could fall under ending hostile environment)
The immigration section, as others have said, is a mixture of disappointment (e.g. not keeping freedom of movement if we leave the EU) and some v progressive policies. Interested to see this on migrant domestic workers - hopefully meaning restoration of pre-2012 visa conditions.
Also positive that the section on Brexit recognises benefits of free movement (even if pledge to keep it would be preferable!) and promises to grant EU nationals an automatic right to continue living and working in UK rather than the potentially disastrous EU settlement scheme.
There are also some promising parts on human rights, including within the international diplomacy section - pledging to defend HRDs and activists, and suspend arms sales to Saudi Arabia for use in Yemen / to Israel in violation of Palestinian civilians' human rights
