Wow. There's times when I think that music photography goes unappreciated, and then there's journalists like CristĂn who really sees it all.
Extremely humbled to be featured alongside some of the greats. It's funny, as she mentions that... https://twitter.com/cristinleach/status/1198566504419221504

(when talking about @MagnumPhotos) "snappers had the eye, the talent, and the willingness to follow stories, but also a facility to capture an iconic shot, to keep shooting until they’d got it.". Now this to me is hilarious as the photo that she mentions is my @Hozier shot from..
... @EPfestival this year. I'll tell you the story of this shot. This was one of the biggest shows of the tour. I had only just started working with the band so I still was v eager to prove myself. The pressure was on. I always want to cover every show from all perspectives...
... And that means running around the whole venue. Literally, running, sports bra n all. I had an inkling that Hozier would get into the crowd during a certain song. I was in the sound tower when he came down off the massive stage, a fair distance away. So I ran...
... I ran hard. I ran through the centre pit that runs from stage to tower (see pic) my foot got caught in a loose cable mound. And I fell. In what felt like slow motion and in front of THOUSANDS of people. I had the camera in one hand and lenses in the other. I came down...
...hard on my knees. Searing pain shot around my entire body. My face burned red with embarrassment as everyone around winced. But up ahead I could see Hozier about to jump the barrier and I thought "fuck it" pulled myself up, ran, hopped on the barrier and shot blindly.
Adrenaline carried me through the last song and off stage. Later, I would hide my bloody and bruised knees backstage while showing everyone what would become my fave Hozier shot of the tour.
Thanks @cristinleach for bringing it all back x
