Re:FG & Emer Higgins. Big companies typically spend a lot of time and effort on something called HR Marketing. It costs a lot of money, but is still considered worthwhile.
“HR marketing can be defined as the activities undertaken by an organization for attracting and retaining the best talents towards them e.g. marketing the job opportunities, marketing the training programs for the internal employees etc.”
This activity typically includes both confirmation that all salaries are at or above market rate, and that the company is active in promoting Diversity and Inclusion across the organisation.
I do wonder how HR in @PayPal feel about their Chief of Staff for Global Operations Europe going on record to say that she can’t afford a mortgage. I wouldn’t think it would exactly make PayPal an employer of choice.
On an adjacent note - surely a Chief of Staff would have D&I responsibilities? I wonder how @PayPal felt about a senior staff member with Diversity and Inclusion responsibilities making derogatory comments about the Travelling Community?
Perhaps Emer Higgins is just saying what she thinks will get her elected, and doesn’t mean any of it. This would reflect badly on her personally, and on the FG party. Or perhaps it’s all true, she means it all and it reflects badly on her employer. I wonder which it is?!
