Finished the first vol of this, the first BL manga I’ve read in a lonnnnnng time. It came recommended to me & it’s getting an anime adaptation, so I guess it’s p popular. I dropped off from BL as I grew up & tropes became way ickier to me as I was figuring out my own queerness.
There were always these elements of shame in the BL I read as scanlations (is that a word anymore?). Relationships were forced or violent & the power imbalances started to wear on me. This is zero judgement on anyone who does enjoy the broader scope of BL to read btw!
This one doesn’t have the shame associated, so I enjoyed it. tho they are hiding their relationship. Which I didn’t realize like halfway through the book that they’re student & teacher which pls put that on the back cover or ???
I’m threading this at 3AM bc I’m deep in contemplation about just enjoying things or not worrying too hard about it. Some of the garbo I was reading at 14, phew y’all. I look back on it & im like, it’s ok. I grew from what I read & it’s helped me make more informed choices now
Is it weird to purchase something that has problematic elements in it? I read fic that would make your hair curl, so what’s the difference (if there is one?)

There’s not really an answer to this. The manga was cute. I would say grab if it you want something mindless. Bye 😂
*I should note, the problematic thing is the age difference I didn’t know about, not your standard BL tropes.
