I'm an older Gen-Xer and probably clueless, but I have an honest question on Twitter gender identifications. Many of the accounts I follow list he/him, she/her, or they/them. Why are both pronouns listed? Is there anyone who identifies as he/her, she/him, or they/(him or her)?
That seems like a lot of wasted space. Can we just post He/She/They, or even H/S/T? Is there a history here that I'm not aware of and I just having my Gen-X showing?
If we could edit tweets this would now be marked [SOLVED]. Thanks @mspowahs for the overview and link to their Twitter thread discussing the issue. It was like asking for the definition of a word and getting the entire etymology. Very much appreciated!
