Assam: is always known for its Temples. Not just Kamakhya, we have mandirs all across mandirs which have prominent importance:

1.The Kamakhya:It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas. it is the main temple in a complex of individual temples dedicated to the ten Mahavidyas of Sakism :Kali,Tara,Sodashi, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chhinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi & Kamalatmika.( Guwahati)
2. Sivadol: is said to be the tallest Shiva temple tower in India at a height of 104 feet.The base of the temple measures 195 ft in circumference.Inside the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), the Shiva Linga (aniconic symbol of Shiva) is deified, which is in a reverse setting.
3. VishnuDol and DeviDol:
Sivadol is surrounded by two subsidiary temples Visnudol (in the east) and Devidol which are architecturally similar to the larger Shiva temple.Vishnudol is dedicated to the God Vishnu; Devidol, also known as Joidol, is a Durga temple.
While the Vishnu temple's tower has a honeycomb design with an ornamental criss-cross framework, the Durga temple's tower is designed, in its vertical elevation, with an undulating pattern. Besides these there is a temple of Ram and Hanuman.
4. Bhuvaneswari Temple: ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Bhuvaneswari, perched atop the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, a little higher than the Kamakhya Temple. The panoramic view of the entire city can be enjoyed from outside the temple.
5. Basistha Temple: built by a king of the Ahom Dynasty, King Rajeswar Singha in the year 1764. He also donated a 835 Bighas of land for the Ashram of the temple. According to scriptions the Ashram was founded by the great Indian saint, Basistha or Vasistha.
6.Hayagriba Madhaba Temple:
Hajo is an ancient pilgrim spot of three religions - Hindu, Islam and Buddhism. Some believe that Buddha attained Nirvana in this place, hence the temple is frequented by both Buddhist lamas and Bhutiyas, especially during the winter season.
7. Ugro Tara Temple: Guwahati- built by the famous Ahom king Shiva Singha back in 1725. The initial construction of the temple was however destroyed in an earthquake and it was reconstructed by the local citizens of the place. it is said that the temple is a Shakti Peeth
8. Aswaklanta Temple (Guwahati)As it is a an important Vaishnavite shrine, it is said that Krishna camped here with his army before defeating and killing Narakasura. Aswaklanta Temple can be reached by crossing the Brahmaputra in ferries. It is truly a wonderful experience.
9. The Umananda temple:
Lord Shiva is said to have resided here in the avataar of Bhayananda at the Umananda temple. As per the lKalika Purana, in the very beginning of the creation Shiva imparted knowledge to his wife Parvati on this hill and meditated here.
It says that, when Lord Shiva was in meditation on this hillock. It is said that Kamadeva interrupted his yoga and was therefore burnt to ashes by the fire of Shiva’s anger and hence the hillock got the name Bhasmacala.
10. Navagraha Temple: built in the 18th century, It features 9 Shivalingas which represents the nine planets, covered with a colored garment along with a Shivaligam in the center symbolising the Sun. The temple is a famous tourist destination among God lovers.
11. Kamalabari Satra: Kamlabari Satra still has a lot to offer to Majuli’s cultural richness.Ankia Naat — a drama performed in the original Brazawalli language used by Saint Shankardev is renowned. The Saali Nitya, another beautiful dance form originated here.
12. Mahabhairav Temple: The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and built by King Banasura. Shiva linga of this temple is said to be made of 'Living Stone' which grows over slowly by the years. It is believed that Bana attained prosperity by worshipping Lord Shiva in this temple.
13. Dol Govinda: known for its Holi Festival, this deity was brought here by late Ganga Ram Barooah from a place called Sandhyasar near Nalbari. The first structure of Doul Govinda Temple was erected more than one hundred and fifty years ago but it was again renovated in 1966.
14. Dirgheswari Temple (Guwahati): Built by Ahom king Swargadeo Siva Singha, Dirgheswari temple is considered as a Shakti Peetha for Shakti Worship. Constructed by Ahom king Swargadeo Siva Singha reign 1714 CE-1744 CE, under the supervision of Tarun Duwarah Barphukan.
15. Madan Kamdev: is an archaeological site in Baihata Chariali, Kamrup, Assam. This place dates back to the 9th and 10th century AD. Excavation and ruins here shows the prosperity and might of Pala dynasty of Kamarupa.
16. Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar: located in Jorhat district, Assam, India that was established by saint-reformer Madhavdeva . He kindled an earthen lamp there, which has been continuously burning since then being religiously refuelled with mustard oil by the priests till date.
17. Kedareswar temple(Hajo): dedicated to Lord Shiva, constructed by the Ahom King Rajeswar Singha in 1753.This is one of the rare Svyambhu (self-originated) linga in the Ardhnareswar (male & female) form of Lord Shiva. The ‘linga’ is kept covered by a metal bowl by the priests.
18. Bhairabi Temple (Kolibari,Tezpur): The temple is a sidhapitha where people offering prayer and fulfill their wants with the blessings of MaaBhairabi. Legend has it that Usha (daughter of mighty Asura King Banasura) regularly came here for the worshiping of the Goddess.
19. Tamresveri Temple (Sadiya,Lakhimpur) The style of construction of the temple is unique where the entire structure is a single stone building, constructed without cement. The stone has been held together by iron-pins but without any clamps.
20. Da Parbatia Temple (Tezpur): The ruins of the temple built during the Ahom period are built over the ancient temple's foundations and are in the form of a stone paved layout plan of the sanctum sanctorum and a mandapa.
21. Sukreswar Temple(Guwahati): constructed in 1744 by Ahom King Pramatta Singha. King Rajeswar Singha who also promoted cause of the Saiva cult made financial provisions for the Sukreswar Temple in 1759.
22. Tilinga Mandir(Tinsukia): dedicated to Lord Shiva in Upper Assam. Tilinga means ‘bell’ and mandir means ‘temple’ in Assamese and hence the temple is known as the “Temple of Bells” or “Tilinga Mandir”.
23.The Mahamaya temple(Kokrajhar): It is one of the greatest Shakti Peethas. Famous for its 400-year old tradition of animal sacrifice, especially during the time of Durga Puja. There is a magnificent idol of Goddess Kali and Lord Hanuman in the temple premises.
24. Narikali Mandir:
Famous Shiv temple of assam. Located near the highway, at Dumunichowki.
25. Muamoria Hari Mandir (Mangaldai):

26. Dhalpur shiva Mandir (Sipajhar): situated in dhalapur hills, this is one beautiful temple in the hearts of Brahmaputra river. Unfortunately, one part of the temple is occupied by illegal immigrants.
