Okay, sorry that I feel the urge to ramble again, but I really don’t understand people who dedicate their lives to hating a TV programme/fanbase.
Yeah, I know I’m being a bloody hypocrite since yesterday I ranted about how the Pokémon fandom sucks, but I don’t hate every single one of them, nor do I hate the actual franchise.
I’m just being critical of the fanbase & how unbelievably spoiled they act sometimes.

When I say people who dedicate their existence to hating a show, I DO REALLY MEAN IT.
These people will go out of their way to hate on every single person who likes the show, proclaim that the show is a scourge inflicted by Satan & even say that if you even do much as watch this show for a few minutes, you just condoned child murder.
Of course, some examples spring to mind already.

*cough* MLP *cough*
Now, while people are completely free to have their own tastes in media, spending your entire existence hating on one specific show or fanbase is just inherently irrational when you think about it.
First of all, it is just a bloody piece of fiction. Unless it is actively spreading bad messages (I don’t mean Broken Aesops that are a product of bad writing, or something you really have to read between the lines for), then leave it alone.
It is also not like the show’s writers intentionally wrote the show just to insult your mother anyway, so just let it be.
Same applies for the fanbase. No matter how much of a bad experience you had with the worst parts of the fandom, you have no right to judge the rest by those same notions.
Even as I have disparaged the Pokémon fanbase on multiple occasions, I do not think that all fans act like that, nor do I assume every fan I meet is like that unless they say or do something absolutely stupid.
Hell, i met my online BFF through this fanbase. And she sure as hell is one of the sanest, most rational people I have met.
What irritates me more than judging fans by these same pre-conceived assumptions is the fact that some of these anti-fans (yes, I’m gonna start calling them that) let these assumptions affect their interactions with others.
They would either completely dismiss rational points made by sane, reasonable fans, cut off ties/lose respect for people just because the latter are fans of the show they hate, or EVEN WORSE, intentionally piss off fans just to say “HAHA LOOK AT HOW STUPID THESE PPL ARE!”
And why do they do all this? Just because they hate something & the fans of said thing.
Now, the easiest way to show how stupid & downright petty these actions are is trying to imagine what would happen if you tried pulling these stunts in real life, maybe even replacing “show & fanbase” with some other thing.
I shall now demonstrate with a few examples.
Example A:
“So you like video games?”
“Yeah, I do! I’m a big fan of SSB.”
“WTF? SSB? That game was made by Satan & its fanbase are all whiny basement-dwellers!”
“Dude, what the hell?”
“I thought we were getting so well...turns out you are a piece of shit yourself.”
Example B (too long to fit into one Tweet, so here is a screenshot of the draft):
Example C (this one is loosely based off experiences I had):

“OMG he is the perfect guy! He’s so handsome, kind & responsible. What’s not there to love?”
“Erm...maybe you should have a look at this.”
“...he’s a Brony?? Wtf, omg, that’s gross. I am SO breaking up with him.”
So..yeah.

I may have exaggerated the situations depicted here, but my point still stands. If you tried pulling the same stunt you did online in real life, let’s just say that everyone will hate you because you are such a disagreeable & petty person.
