Tweet thread...coming at ya!

It hasn’t happened a lot, but every once in a while I get feedback that essentially says, “I wasn’t that into Superman but I kind of liked him a little better after hearing you talk about him.”

I like this mainly because it is a bug and not...1/
...the feature. I never set out to convert people to liking Superman. That’s not my job. I told a friend years ago that I was never going to do a tent revival for him. I’m a firm believer that you either get the character or you don’t. 2/
I just talk about what I like about him and that’s usually that. I can get a little silly. I can get passionate. I can get opinionated. I can get obstinate. But I try to just explain why l love the character.

And if someone hears that and comes away thinking better...3/
...of Superman than that’s just a bonus.

My point is that getting evangelical about the character is never the way to go. Just talk about what you love.

And for the love of God, let people like the version of Superman they do. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t...4/
...express your opinions as you see fit, but it is possible to see someone geeking out about a version of Superman they love without yukking their yum.

I guess what I’m ultimately saying is that maybe if we say we’re fans of Superman that we should act more like Superman. /end
