As I have watched the impeachment hearings I have heard much from the Republicans and President Trump about how “due process” was not being adhered to.

When you are talking about an investigation into-say a crime boss for multiple charges-there is a Grand Jury hearing 1st in secret. A Grand Jury hears testimony from relevant witnesses. After hearing this testimony they decide if the subject of the inquiry committed a crime.

This part of the investigation is not open to the public This is what was happening when the Republicans were talking about “secret hearings in the basement”, hearings that 50 or so of them had access to and were able to ask questions in.

Also during these hearings President Trump has not allowed several additional witnesses-who were also asked to give evidence-to testify.These witnesses have been directed by the President to defy Congressional subpoenas.

Now after hearing all of this testimony I, and the majority of Americans, believe that Donald J. Trump abused the power of his office to force President Zelinski to, in essence, interfere in the 2020 election.

Now for the fictional crime boss next up would be a trial before an impartial jury of his peers. In this case it means that Trump will be tried in a court where the majority of his jurors-senators-are anything but impartial.

In fact I have seen more than one of those jurors say they won’t even hear the evidence-they already know how they will vote. So much for the “rule of law”.
