Let’s talk about some #tips for #grocery shopping this week! It’s a holiday week. #Thanksgiving is very food centric. A lot of people (basically everyone) is going to the grocery store. If you’re not a patient person, go very early or very late,
because it’s pretty much mayhem.
because it’s pretty much mayhem.
Everyone planning a traditional Thanksgiving meal are shopping for the same items. We aren’t stupid, we probably put those things on display. If the normal shelf spot is empty, check endcaps, check seasonal displays. Chances are we put the most popular items in multiple places.
Be cognizant of your surroundings. If you stop in the middle of the aisle to check your list it’s likely that someone behind you is standing there waiting for you to move. If you need to park your cart somewhere, avoid the high traffic areas because it’s going to be in the way.
Everyone working at the store is being bombarded with questions. We expend tons of emotional energy smiling and assisting customers. After about 50 questions, smiling gets tough. Don’t take it personally. We are doing our best to keep the shelves full and help everyone we can!
The issue of answering so many questions, brings something else to mind- please don’t decide to go shop at a store you never go to at the holidays. Or, if you do, don’t get mad that it’s laid out differently than your normal store. No one made you choose our location.
Unless you have no option, it’s unnecessary to bring your entire family to the store. I love kids. It’s a massive part of why I love my job. If you can leave them home this week, do it. It’s hard enough navigating the store without having to worry about the safety of your kiddos!
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. I hope your meal is great. I hope you get to spend it with people you love. But please be patient, self aware, understanding, and kind when you come to the grocery store this week! Thanks!
