BOY DO I HAVE A THREAD FOR YOU:

I am a casual simulated patient at my local hospital, training pre-med & med students. Today I was with pre-meds who were doing their interviews for med school. I was to play an angry LGBT patient demanding the restrooms be made gender neutral...
2. Yes. Really.

The would-be students were meant to show empathy, and immediately bend the knee and agree to neutralise the washrooms in the simulated "doctors office." All did.

All but one.

An African immigrant female with a thick Nigerian accent.
3. While she was perfectly polite and agreeable, she REFUSED to all-out neutralise the male and female washrooms (which is what I was meant to demand). She said "some women might not be comfortable or feel safe around men. So maybe we will make a third washroom. Ok?"
4. I accepted her solutions (smiling internally) within the bounds of my script. Don't worry, the invigilator still marked her highly!

I have written in to the med school to express concerns about this script (will keep you all posted). But boy, did a sister make my my day😂
