if you're gonna come on Twitter and write some long screed about how VNs are artistically bankrupt schlock for porn-obsessed otaku or whatever, at least have the courage to call Ace Attorney/Zero Escape/Danganronpa/etc. shit too
making exceptions for the handful of examples that have taken hold in the mainstream makes it obvious that you don't actually care about VNs either way, you just needed an easy target to punch down against for your latest Hot Take fueling Twitter Engagement
stuff like this used to upset me, but it's just boring now, because it's so obvious what the thought process behind it is; the *appearance* of going against the grain is what's important here, never mind the fact that you're calling out some niche genre with like five fans
nobody is gonna make a thread calling out, say, Jump manga, because those are actually popular, and doing so might actually ostracize you from your peers
nerd culture in general has become more mainstream recently, but all that means is that the subcultures it's considered acceptable to harass have shifted

ultimately this is just human nature so if you're a fan of anything even slightly offbeat better get used to it I guess
