I was at a capacity building & skills development seminar to talk to some young folks when after 90mins of extensive exposé, a young from the back during Q & A asked, "sir, what is the essence of life?" The hall became calm for a short while.

Every other person was concerned about how to make money but this young lad's question shook me. Some people in the hall laughed at his question but I wanted to understand where he was coming from so I asked him to be more lucid with his question.

He said, he has observed that the cycle of life is be born, make money or die trying and after making the money and living a lavished life, what next? He said he believes there has to be more and he's more interested in that more than the whole quest for money.

At this point, the organizers pulled the plug on the Q & A session and I granted him a private Q & A.

Truthfully, I was intrigued because these were questions I started asking from way back. And these questions helped me understand life better.

I asked myself, why was I born? What was I born for? Why was I born to my parents? Why was I born in Nigeria? What is the essence of being born, grow up and then die?

I didn't get definite answers, but I found a better approach to life.

I learnt contentment, I learnt the potency of the process, I learnt how not to get angry no matter how pushed, I learnt that this life is a fleeting ephemeral gift that can go faster that it came, I learnt that the way you treat people determines who you really are.

I learnt that death is not the end and your name is the real infinity you can live for. I learnt that with money you can make a lot of things happen, without money your words don't weigh so much but your integrity and personality can never be priced.

Seek to understand life beyond the status quo. Don't live because others are living. Live by your own terms when you have successfully Found the purpose for your life.
