White folks, men, and cisgender people, the next several days are a prime opportunity to get your folks together. You want to claim the title “ally” you have to act. The onus is not on marginalized peoples to teach and correct those who perpetuate oppressive mindsets.

Part of allyship is correcting and teaching those who benefit from the same and similar power structures as you. The Thanksgiving holiday is prime opportunity to do so.

When you hear problematic language, erasure of identities, and silencing of minority groups over the next few days from family and friends, speak up. Then continue to speak up after the coming holiday weekend.

Speak up all the time and everywhere against sexism.

Speak up all the time and everywhere against transphobia.
