Djs. Ppl who play music.
A few suggestions going into the Christmas season
A thread :

1. Install ALL drivers for controllers and serato items before u lef u yard!! It is a part of preparation for your events!
2. Have whatever you need to carry out your duties - USB cables, headphones, power cords etc (wherever possible have an extra)
3. Back up your music! If not weekly, then at least monthly.

4. Don't ask people for their music collection. It's rude and insensitive. If u don't want to get sent to see your mother, don't ask.
5. Strive to have your music collection consist of Good quality sounding music! The YouTube rips do not sound good on ANY sound system.

6. Do not leave your equipment careless! DO NOT LEAVE THINGS IN A CAR! Not even for a few mins. Ppl watch us.
7. Have fun when you're playing... The people will feed off of your energy and have fun too!

8. CHARGE ACCORDINGLY and try to get your payment beforehand! Wherever possible get a written agreement.. Whether digital or in writing!
9. Wherever possible, vary the times and routes you take to get home.

10. Dress for the event you are playing. Try to be a part of the theme of the event. The better you look the better you'll feel and you'll play better. (if a white party, at least a white shirt) lawks man
11. Pre edit your music (thanks @itzg_adele)

12. Play music that's appropriate for the event!
13. Do NOT DRINK TOO MUCH. Remember you're expected to carry out a duty. Nobody likes a drunk dj who's mixing sloppily etc

14. Read the crowd you're playing for. Wherever possible, play for the ladies.. Can't go wrong there 😁

15. Don't try to do too many events in a night!
16. If you're doing a daytime event... Be prepared! If you have a fan at home... Bring it with you to cool the equipment you're using! Or get a laptop cooling fan! Event planners dont always think of providing cooling for the dj and technical area.

Thank me later
17. RESPECT YOUR (AND OTHER PEOPLE'S EQUIPMENT - don't beat up the ppl dem controller like ur life depends on it! The supn dem name SOFT TOUCH pads for a reason. Don't put drinks or food near any equipment!
18. LEARN ABOUT YOUR TOOLS OF THE Trade! ! KEYBOARD COMMANDS, BUTTONS ON THE CONTROLLER ETC, it doesn't look good to be there and the song playing in reverse n u a call engineer... (press shift and censor on the controller or press Q on keyboard for left and A for the right deck)
19. It could be 10 people or 10,000 ppl... Play! Mek the ppl enjoy themselves! Secure ur money too... And you never know who is in that crowd... They might be your next booking.
20. BE (EARLY) ON TIME - if the event starts at 8, more than likely they will want music playing at that time. Try reach at least 30 mins b4 the time you're to play. You'll get 2c what the event is like, see if ur system connects properly. If >1 dj u get to hear what's played b4
