It confuses me when Christians insist that I provide a specific verse to prove profound and often nuanced theological themes in Scripture—as if any idea pertaining to God can be narrowed down, contained or simplified into one verse.

This reminds me how few Christians are taught to think critically about the Bible, to engage with it holistically and responsibly.
