I think we need to be mindful that for most of human civilization we've had kingship & authoritarian rulers so this concept of shared power is relatively new for most of the world's populations. Ppl are very accustomed to strict hierarchies of power. 2/
It's not only the kings & dictators who uphold this way of being. At a micro level people often behave oppressively towards others in the workplace, in the home, etc. So it's not like people are getting many opportunities to practice shared power. 3/
This is also why people are still very wedded to the idea of having a single charismatic leader who makes all of the decisions for us and why people struggle with the concept of shared leadership or a decision-making process that is bottom-up instead of top-down. 4/4
