I have learned to cast basically everything conservatives do in the light of authoritarianism. Authority is their principal virtue and everything they do is to gain or maintain it.

After authoritarianism is shown, everything else makes sense:

Why do they hate gays?
Because they want to control people.

Why do they hate abortions?
Because they want to control people.

Why do they hate black people?
Because they want to control people.

Why do they love money?
Because they want to control people.

Why do they love guns?
Because they want to control people.

Why do they love war?
Because they want to control people.

Authority explains everything.
