Today, I want to give a little info about Error Codes in Sims 4. DU brought us many, legit game ones and mod/cc induced ones.

There are Save Error (you can't save the game) and Load Lot Errors (you can't load a certain/some/all lots.

(1/many)
They usually have a 3 digit number, then a : then a longer number and then another : and then yet another number.

So far, from what I found looking into this, the most important number is the one between the two : ..

They identify the error.

2/many
The first three digits often give the mode in which they occurred but also seems gives other info. Most seen erorr is 102, then there's 109 or 122. I've also seen 111 and 104.

The save errors usually are 510s and they do seem to work a bit different.
So, if you run into an error code, always google the first three digits and the numbers after the first : cause 102:6ee24dd4 (game errror) is totally different than 102:20ece5dd (mod/cc error)

I'd say 80% of these error codes are caused by an outdated mod/cc

4/many
So if you get one of these, the first step is to leave the game WITHOUT saving your game, remove your mods and test again.

Then backup your saves before doing further experimenting.

5/many
In all cases I've seen where the error was a game error, the fix EA later introduced fixed the existing saves and they are normally fixed rather fast, especially if they affect a lot of people.

Along with these error codes, the game often also throws exceptions.

6/many
If you determinded something to be a legit game error, please post at AHQ, either bugs or tech is fine for initial post.

I enjoy looking into them and finding workarounds but sometimes (like the current 109) there just doesn't seem to be one.

In those cases it's best to start a new save and keep your saves until the bug is fixed.

Because of issues like this, I always think it's best to first start a fresh (or copy) of your legacy files when a pack hits. Keep them safe.

Let me know if you have any questions
