Yes, our Fantastic Five of @ImIshant @Jaspritbumrah93 @MdShami11 @Jaspritbumrah93 @BhuviOfficial are doing great but are there still days when you miss this guy, copy his action in front of a mirror, then celebrate like him?
Well we do, all the time.

Ahmedabad, 1996:
South Africa and India go head to head in a Test series, the 1st Test being at Amdavad. Skipper SRT wins the toss and decides that India will bat first and in all probability, won't bat last. What a good decision that turned out to be as you'll know soon
We had had that 💔 loss to SL in CWC 96 semis and the Eng tour after that hardly made our moods better except for the emergence of @SGanguly99, Dravid, Prasad as individual contributors to look forward to. But what we needed were team wins!
Well our 1st innings in this Test wasn't a mood uplifter either. The SA attack ate us up in a state that perhaps preferred vegetarianism. @AllanDonald33 extracted life and consequently, 4 wickets out of this track. Fanie De Villiers and Pat Symcox picked 2 each.
Ind 223/10
If you're gonna talk about SA of that era and not talk about @JontyRhodes8, that's just plain bad manners. He grabbed a fine catch to dismiss out skipper and top scorer in the innings, SRT for 42. And the 2nd highest scorer, @azharflicks? Well he ran him out!
'Twas #TheJontyShow!
In SA's reply, our Karnataka heavy bowling attack did exceedingly well and reduced SA to 119/7.
But it wasn't to be. Little kids like us needed to know and experience and learn that India lets the opposition's tail wag and wag and wag!
And so... wag it did!
SA ended up with 244/10 with Fanie top scoring (67). By now, we were well into Day 3 and everyone knew that there was going to be a result. Who was it gonna be?
Day3 for India turned out to be all about this debutant from Hyderabad whom @bhogleharsha rated highly and for good reason. Mountains of runs in domestic cricket backed him and here he showed why he was the real deal.
On a pitch where every batter found the going super tough, @VVSLaxman281 shone through and let the world know his wrists, placement, and finesse were going to rule for many years to come.
The rest of our batting was again blown away by the strong SA bowling attack but ...
Laxman's brilliant 51 (worth a 200 on an easier track in easier match conditions) and Kumble's stolid 30 saved us the blushes. Somehow we reached 190/10 which meant that early into Day 4, when SA came out to bat for the 4th innings of the Test, they needed just 189 for the win
SRT, the skipper would have been expecting Kumble and Joshi and Hirwani, our spin triad to get into the mix soon if we stood any chance of winning this.
The pitch had deteriorated quite a bit and early wickets, as cliched as it may sound, was what the doctor had ordered, as cliched as it may sound.
Javagal Srinath, our hero at the time, thought of getting them and get he did. The 1st over in the innings was a double wkt maiden!
From there on, it was just pure madness and chaos. Srinath was in the form of his life and Kumble, his mate for life provided him with great support. Fantastic spells from both of them reduced SA to 105/10 and gave us a 64 run win on Day4 itself!
Six SA batsmen scored 🦆 and a 7th one was dismissed in single figures. Srinath, the causer of mayhem, finished with 11.5-4-21-6 and Kumble with 12-2-34-3.
What awesomeness!
Undoubtedly, Srinath was the MoM and it is for days like these that we still remember him so fondly! ♥️
