80k in London is 40k anywhere else.
Simple fact of the matter is that we don't live in a monolithic economy. We have areas where housing averages at 90k, and areas where it is 2.9m. The urban/rural divide is insane.
Further, we have microeconomies where a high earner (80k+) in the household is the sole provider (many South Asian, Asian and Middle Eastern communities). This combined with larger numbers of children means that rather than having a HE(2) > P(3) you have a HE(1) > (P5) system.
It's all very easy to should 'take from the rich!' and yeah, I oppose homogenous taxation, but you need to think about the whole economic picture, not just throw numbers out.

Truth is: people on 80k aren't the problem here. But I think you knew that.
