Let me quickly explain the Emery/Torreria thing. Well my thoughts on it.
Emery wants a better footballer on the ball to help us build our attacks from deep, makes perfect sense however we don’t have a Jorginho/Rodri/Fabinho, Xhaka is too slow & one footed, Guendouzi too careless

So neither of those aid us any better than Torreria would in those areas, also an argument Torreria > Guendouzi on the ball. Emery also feels if Torreria could win the ball higher up the pitch we are in a better position to attack, again makes perfect sense but he isnt accounting
For a couple of things. One is that you generally have an underload in attacking areas so it’s harder to win the ball back meaning Torreria is now doing twice the work for probably less than half the reward. Another is that now they’ve bypassed Torreria he’s got to cover stupid
Ground to recover the ball and we have inferior ball winners closer to our goal meaning we are in more danger. Those are the problems when they have the ball. Now when we have the ball if you feel he isn’t good enough on the ball to play deeper it’s even harder in the attacking
Third/fourth however you break the pitxh up, so now not only do you we struggle to prevent we also struggle to create because we have a less attack minded and creative midfielder. Then there is Torreria’s natural instincts which are obviously gonna be less effective in an
Unfamiliar part of the pitch. Which explains his drop in performance. So in short Emery has taken one problem and made it into 4. Which is pretty impressive if you think about it. #TouchlineFracas
