[A THREAD] Here are 10 Reasons why your customers aren't converting at checkout and how you can fix it today. 🔥🔥

This one is for my #ecommerce people.

⓵ Their card is in another room.

We've all been there at check out. It is the final second, cart is fully loaded and ready to make that 10 second impulse purchases, card is in the living room.

Fix: Offer multiple ways to pay, via Paypal, Apple Pay, etc. Secure the bag.
⓶ Your shipping is hidden and you have surprise fees.

People love the cozy feeling of knowing that they pay for products instead shipping.

Fix: Consider bumping up your product cost a bit to have free shipping or having a promo that offers free shipping on orders $100+
⓷ They came to their senses and checked their impulses

People are tempermental in checkout. Sometimes they psych themselves out of a purchase once it is in their cart.

Fix: Set up a retargeting campaign that pushes them back to their abandoned cart. http://bit.ly/33fWFBw
⓸ Their spouse wears the pants(with the wallet)

This one is a tricky one but if your AOV is $60 or less, people typically don't have to consult with their spouse to impulse buy.

Fix: If your products are more, consider offering paypal credit option for installments.
⓹ You are making them work to hard.

NO one, I mean NO ONE likes filling out a 30 field form.

Fix: Keep your checkout process as simple as possible. Take only the information you need for the transaction.

I suggest a single page checkout with dynamic forms if possible.
⓺ You are attacking them with newsletter popups.

I get it, you want to get their email but the truth is they came to shop with you.

Fix: Instead of having your email pop up on landing, have an exit intent popup. When they try to leave the site offer a discount for their email.
⓻ You are forcing an account to be created before purchase.

Fix: Listen to Bryson Tiller. Don't.

Let people checkout then when they are in their happy euphoria ask them for additional information with an incentive ie. a free gift with their next purchase promo or a download.
⓼ Your site doesn't induce scarcity or FOMO.

If people assume your products are always available, they have no incentive to check out now.

Fix: Launch products in limited quantity batches or add countdowns to your site to push "Limited time offers"
⓽ It is 2019...and they can't find a coupon code for your site.

Fix: Sometimes you have to feel like they won even if it is just 5%.

A customer is less likely to purchase if they don't feel like they have an edge. Run limited time promo codes to incentivize return visits.
⓾ I shouldn't have to say this, but your site isn't secure.

Don't be in these streets vulnerable. Regardless if you are selling ecomm or not, every website should have an SSL certificate.

Fix: Most major hosting providers offer it free in cpanels now through Let's Encrypt.
