I started learning how to play the violin today! IT& #39;S NOT EASY
it& #39;s like an upper body workout tbh

we started with how to hold the bow properly. there are a lot of warmup exercises just for learning how to hold the bow.

I found it challenging to grasp the proper form at first, I will keep practicing this week so holding it will feel more natural. If you hold it incorrectly like if you& #39;re too tense, it would be very obvious bc you can easily hear it.

I was curious why my hand started hurting immediately, apparently I didn& #39;t notice that I practiced for almost 2 hours straight

I& #39;m going to perform in a recital and I have no idea which song I& #39;ll choose

do I go for classical music or pop or rock?

I was practicing yesterday, my brother said it sounded like there was a dying cat

just wait til I pull off salut d& #39;amour or ave maria hahahaha

we started with left hand drills today, my left arm hurts, my teacher said I will also get to develop my muscles there

it& #39;s really true that playing the violin demands a lot of upper body strength

I found out today that my teacher doesn& #39;t have any advanced students :(
they just take beginner lessons and leave after the 10 sessions
I hope I can stay
3 out of 10 sessions and we& #39;re still on drills, if I wanna play my dream pieces, I think I need more than 10 sessions

do you sometimes look at your instrument and be like "hello precious bby, I will protect u"

today I learned various bowing styles, my arms, shoulders and back are tired af

I& #39;m still amazed at how professional violinists look so effortless

for beginners, when replacing strings, especially the E string, ask you instructor to replace it for you while teaching you how to do it, the E string is so fucking fragile I just broke my replacement string (it& #39;s waaay cheaper than my usual strings so maybe that& #39;s a factor)

something you might hear me say one of these days: "I refuse to be as fragile as an E string!"

I started playing with piano accompaniment today, it& #39;s really challenging to keep the same rhythm. I have so much respect for band/orchestra members now

also I& #39;m supposed to play with a faster tempo now and my mind and fingers are struggling to catch up :))

I have to push the peg while twisting it at the same time! I usually just twist the peg hahahaha

damn I just spent 2 hours practicing, it& #39;s difficult to get tempos right

instructor: you& #39;re such a fast learner
me: (???? but my violin sounds like shit???)

of course it will still sound like shit but I guess I can& #39;t deny that I really am improving

chorus of safe and sound, it& #39;s not perfect but I& #39;m improving on my speed~

i have a new teacher bc my original one doesn& #39;t have a good internet connection for online classes :( but the new one is great too! she& #39;s also specific in terms of the things i can improve which makes practicing easier

based on her assessment, she said:
- i have a good ear for music, i can easily identify when there are sidden changes in pitch and i adjust accordingly
- i& #39;m a fast-learner, she was impressed that I self-studied a couple of pieces while the music school was on break

- she also likes that i can read sheet music and that i pay attention to the notations
- i can improve my bowing by being less tense, i have to relax my shoulders and not be too self-conscious
- "imagine the sound you want to make, feel the music"

my teacher noticed I make mistakes when I& #39;m tense/overthinking, she told me to trust myself and clear my head. she also observed that i tend to beat myself up and not see my strengths

what i learned recently: play with no hesitation. don& #39;t be afraid to show your true power even if there& #39;s the possibility of making mistakes.

I broke 2 e-strings when I tried to replace them back in february and my teacher had to replace them for me

I was already interested in it as a kid, but I became more drawn to it bc of watching la corda d& #39;oro and that I had a crush who played the violin
