One of the best books I ever read was Charles Colson's "Kingdoms In Conflict".

Are you sizing up people to be members of a political group for voting and affecting the laws of the land...

or are you sizing them up for membership in your church to worship & share your religious beliefs?

Because if you confuse one for the other, what's going to happen is you are going to end up with a very small political movement because you're insisting that only people who share your religious views can stay in it.

You will end up practicing politics like it's religion.

And politics is not religion.

I had to sit down and puzzle this out back in the mid-1980's when the "Moral Majority" and the "Religious Right" were in the news constantly. Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed, very vocal Christian leaders wanting their place at the political table.

Charles Colson was one of the few level heads at that time, able to see the benefits of Christians becoming politically aware and active in their communities but also very aware of the dangers and pitfalls involved.

Those of us that are Christians can be open and bold about our faith, but we need to always keep in mind we're not out to gain political power so we can use it to try to force people to live like Christians.

That's not what political power is for.

Of course, as we all know, the Left is all about using political power to try to coerce people into living how they want them to, and we see it for being the grotesque thing that it is.

Why should we join them in that kind of behavior?
