You know, I think about kids who are learning writing a lot, and while I think it is VERY great to teach them that writing well takes revisions and time and edits, etc etc, there is also something to be said for just letting it out and letting it STAY "bad". #NCTE19

Sometimes, writing is a path to something deep, beautiful and extremely well crafted. But it can also be for the pure sake of getting something onto paper, solely to get it out of your head. Overwork applies.

If all books are valid, all forms of writing should be, too. #NCTE19

Usually, these revision exercises are meant to show kids that "working away at it" is a normal part of the creative process. But equally normal to this process is the need to put down a bunch of stuff you'll never look at again - which often makes space for OTHER stuff. #NCTE19
