Stats in Canada are hard to get because they aren't collated nationally. But in 2018 57 people died in police related incidents. Some studies put the number 15-25.

Number of officers killed? You can't even get that number. It's averaged over decades.

1.8. That's the average https://twitter.com/AuntieAlias1/status/1198035396011188224
They're even described differently. It's police murdered since 1975 or since 1961.

For the civilians we're just deaths related to police, incidents.

They get murdered. We're incidents.

But that ratio. More police officers die in car accidents.
The numbers in the US are similarly out of whack.

166 officers died in 2018. 61 of those were vehicular assault (9) or shot (52) accidents, illness, 9/11 related

992 people were killed by police officers.
So maybe we can retire that idea that it's so dangerous to be a police officer because you might get shot.

It seems to be more dangerous to be a civilian than a police officer.
