When I tweeted to #FurryAndProud, I was expressing solidarity with the Fandom, the LGBTQIAA+ community. I I RT’d later and @HYENABLOOD made me hep to this thread by @PartyPrat... who is now being cancelled internally for whistleblowing. Lets look at what happened, don’t @ me pls. https://twitter.com/PartyPrat/status/1197771019122954240
This started a larger conversation in the fandom about the nature of what is and isn't a charity event. People were either for or against it, but many of the details have been left out of the conversation, and many good points like this were brought up. https://twitter.com/HYENABLOOD/status/1197951323565637633
From my work on charity events for the LGBTQIAA+ community, I know how disorganized things can be when they start, but transparency is key for an event to be successful. @RageHound brought up a serious question: Does it actually benefit us? What charity? https://twitter.com/RageHound/status/1197908888835805184
Once we confirmed that the operation was a for-profit venture, the question of the warehouse fire and cleanup became a serious issue. The company then replied confirming this did happen and offered refunds, much to the discontent of several in the fandom.

The question of the traced logo then became the focus, and as an artist, I detest when this happens. Artists talk, you know? If you're caught doing this in the artistic community, you will be railroaded for stealing work. @ToonCrate provided us comparison https://twitter.com/ToonCrate/status/1197757887520493568
While the company claimed to have paid an artist for this logo in 2016, the previous tweet to this link claimed no tracing knowledge, yet resulted in a call to their IP attorney to check for differentiation, and purchase of an extended commercial license https://twitter.com/artworktee/status/1197799795857002496
They said they had doubled the rates artists were being paid, offering $300 extra, but then established furries began to weigh in about how they weren't credited for their images, and in the case of @BoltMutt their OC & fursona was used without permission. https://twitter.com/BoltMutt/status/1197957901836570624
The question of T-Shirt quality then became an issue at $25 a pop, and it was revealed that the shirts were potentially not sourced from small, fair-trade vendors as promised. @OswaldDeer then provided details of where the shirts actually came from. https://twitter.com/OswaldDeer/status/1197946659185086465
The bronie fandom then weighed in to say that the company had been known by a previous name, DrawPonies, and had some run-ins at Bronycon 2019. @_Shibs_ provided what they observed happened at the conference.

As old tweets resurfaced, and the discourse continued, guesswork and rumors of donations to the Sc*ent*log*sts were brought up, and the company responded subsequently in the following thread that this attendance "was a joke" https://twitter.com/PartyPrat/status/1197942520258404352
I do charity work. That's my life. And this situation isn't for charity. There were lots of counterarguments given, but imo PartyPrat became the center of the controversy for her this take, not for exposing this as a for-profit operation, which it is.

I know people have been arguing regarding this point but I'll stay on topic and not dogpile yet into a broader convo. This is about the company's effort to call the work "charity". They should have been honest & transparent about being a capitalist venture https://twitter.com/RageHound/status/1197973431695925256
That convo needs to be had, I want it to. But let's remember the original point. They're not donating to LGBTQIAA+ causes. We shouldn't cancel someone for whistleblowing. Imo lets take back #FurryAndProud and use it to promote LGBTQIAA+ furries & artists. https://twitter.com/HYENABLOOD/status/1197964769577381889
