Equity is aware of the issues regarding the production of Sound & Fury produced by Shakespeare in Action (Toronto, ON) and the response to these issues by b current performing arts regarding their upcoming production of Our Fathers, Sons, Lovers, and Little Brothers.
We have been working with the members and the producers of Sound & Fury for some time, immediately after being contacted for assistance.
Joint statement on behalf of Equity's Council President Scott Bellis and Executive Director Arden R. Ryshpan:
"As is our primary responsibility Equity has been supporting all members in this production with care and consideration as they address sensitive issues of racism and discrimination. We will continue to work with the Theatre to ensure Equity members work in a place of safety and
that members' working terms and conditions are protected."

Equity condemns, in no uncertain terms, any form of racism & discrimination in our industry and we are dedicated to working to ensure that all artists are protected in rehearsal and performance workspaces.
