I really wish the Beat/Graphic Policy had done a better job of covering Hope Nicholson admitting she harassed someone. Both headlines are wrong. The Beat gave her a chance to discredit instead of apologize. Graphic Policy suggests this is all due to a recent post. It’s from 2018.
Being first out the gates is meaningless if you botch the finish. It’s vital us as comics people and the press get this right, every time. If not for accuracy, then for compassion. It isn’t easy to write about but the facts are there. First means nothing.
And apologies can be great but if your friends are doing sucker-for-love stuff like the quoted tweets below, check them.
“You are sooooooo brave,” only in a baby voice. “We CAn oNLy LearN aNd MoVE FORwaRD,” says what is apparently the reincarnation of Martin Luther the King https://twitter.com/KerinCunningham/status/1197975951369523201
I dunno what it is about situations like this that makes people talk like they’re trying to add a new verse onto Kiss From a Rose but I’m over it. There’s no bravery here. Just a spectacularly botched sympathy grift. “Look how bad I feel for what I did (he lying tho)”
I love comics. Best storytelling delivery system in the world and until the day I die I’ll think that people who can draw are 🔥🔥🔥🔥. But we gotta do a lot better. We can do exhaustive investigations of Wonder Woman and her pants. Keep that same energy for people.
