Quick thread on China and why that Yonghong Li Twitter account can’t be real, even though MilanNews claim it is.
Now, China has a social credit system in which people have a “social score” which can increase or decrease depending on how socially acceptable their individual actions are. If someone breaks a law, or does something considered socially unacceptable, their score will decrease.
When someone’s score falls under a certain amount, they’re added to a “blacklist” of untrustworthy individuals, people on this list can be blocked from flying or using the best trains, have their internet cut, be blocked from certain jobs, etc
but most importantly, these people are publicly known and closely monitored by the Chinese government, someone on this list basically has really restricted rights and no privileges.
It’s unknown whether or not he’s been located since then but if he has been located, he’d be closely monitored for being on the list and would likely receive serious punishment for using the banned platform while being on the blacklist, useless risk to take.
If he hasn’t been located, he’d be publicly announcing himself on a platform closely monitored by the government and giving them a way to track him down and find him, which he obviously doesn’t want. Another useless risk to take.
The account is probably very fake and this thread was probably a waste of time but I figured this would be useful information to put out there since MilanNews gave the account some “credibility” by claiming they’ve confirmed that it’s him. Impossible? No. Reallyyy unlikely? Yep.
