I say this as someone with over £50k of student loans:

It is not ‘debt’, you don’t pay it back until you’re earning over £25k & even then it’s a small percentage of your earning for a couple of decades until the remainder is written off.

I pay less back under the current plan than I would have done under the previous system.

Labour’s plans for free tuition will result in a cap on student numbers & lead to a reduction of people from working class backgrounds (like myself) able to go to university.

This entire narrative that it is ‘Debt’ and that you are ‘burdened’ is absolute nonsense and is damaging as it puts off people from working class background from going to university.
