I truly believe Ranked Choice Voting starts to solve so much of this.

-It is only one reform and relatively easy to do.
-It immediately changes the tone of campaigns.
-It gets better people in office.
-Which leads to better laws and additional election reforms. And so on. /1 https://twitter.com/AngryBlackLady/status/1197928737485946880
Just look at Maine @AngryBlackLady. We have Ranked Choice Voting in 2020, the first time for president and Susan Collin’s seat.

We have @TiffanyBond running and she doesn’t want a dime for her campaign. She asks you to spend money in Maine instead #MaineRaising /2
We have @BeeKay4ME running. They would be the first non-binary person elected to Congress. /3
We have @BetsySweetME supporting Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and election reforms. /4
And I haven’t included all the Dem and Independent candidates like the one everyone has heard of, @SaraGideon. Or any of the Republicans. /5
With Ranked Choice Voting, a #1 vote for any one of these candidates ensures that Susan Collins doesn’t get that #1 vote. Including if some crazy R or nutjob libertarian candidate jumps in the race and steals a #1 from Susan. /6
The Maine Dem & Ind candidates have good reason to support each other. If they can’t be your #1 vote, they want to be your #2. RCV incentivized candidates to not alienate or anger the base of other candidates if they some overlap in platforms. /7
I want to see more people talking about #RCV. Obviously, the politics and election cycles we have now are terrible. And I want to continue living in a democracy, preferably one with a mix of elected officials that include more PoC, women, younger people, not-rich people, etc.
