We need election reform. These two year long presidential election cycles are media driven. It’s not necessary. So many people aren’t even paying attention yet.

And those of us on Twitter who follow this stuff closely are driving ourselves mad.

I can’t live like this.
Two year long cycle means two years of candidates asking for money.

You shouldn’t need billions of dollars to run for office. It’s ridiculous. It’s great that regular folk donate, but we’re being asked literally every day to donate and some folks just can’t.

It’s inefficient.
And as soon as the prezzy election is over, it’s time to start freaking out about the midterms.

It never ends.
people are at each other’s throats for years on end over relatively minor policy differences when compared to what we are up against.

And it doesn’t work in Democrats’ favor because we are a bigger tent and less prone to lock step authoritarianism.
So for two years, Democrats/liberals/progressives/socialists are at each others’ throats while Republicans are goosestepping against gays, guns, and abortion, as they say.

I’d add gender nonconforming to that list, for extra alliteration.
Think about it. Who benefits from two year long election cycles? What network spends two years filling conservative voters’ heads with outright lies?

Election reform.

We need it.
