1st thing. Do the work early. The analogy I like to use is that most of coaching is like cooking, pinch of this, dash of that. Certain decisions like 4th downs, foul/not foul, when to pull the goalie are more like baking. There’s a recipe. Come up with the recipe beforehand. 2/x
“Extend the game” more often than not means “just lose slower and more comfortably”

The humility to recognize that real world situations are frequently far more complex than what you can adequately and accurately model, so that the output of that model is just one factor in a decision rather than some sort of unassailable truth. 4/x
