After Sen. @BernieSanders announced his plans for yet another forgiveness of debt, @shaqbrewster and I took a look at how much debt Sanders plans to forgive: A total of about $1,756,600,000,000, according to a @NBCNews analysis of his statements/plans. That’s $1.75 trillion.(1/6)
Here’s how it breaks down:

STUDENT DEBT
In Sen. Bernie Sanders’ “College for All” plan, Sanders pledges to cancel the entire $1.6 trillion in outstanding student debt for the approximate 45 million borrowers. (2/6)
HBCU LOANS
In addition to student debt, Sanders released a plan Thursday calling for the cancellation of all institutional debt (1.6 billion) from the HBCU Capital Financing Program. (3/6)
PUERTO RICO DEBT
In response to a question during a town hall in Nevada, Sanders said he plans to forgive the entirety of Puerto Rico’s debt. That’s about 74 billion dollars, according to published reports. (4/6)
MEDICAL DEBT
Sanders commits to canceling $81 billion in existing past-due medical debt. (5/6)
But as @steinhauserNH1 from Fox News learned in an interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders, there are limits to what Sanders will forgive. “I don’t believe we wipe out credit card debt,” Sanders told Fox News. (6/6)
