There were FIVE stages of in Luther’s development toward to his Protestant position. None was more important than his distinction between las & gospel.
ALL the magisterial Protestants followed him. ALL. It’s basic to Protestant theology. If, however, you’re in a typical Evangelical (or, sadly, P&R) church, there’s a high probability that you’re unfamiliar w/the distinction.
Worse you may have been told that it’s a uniquely Lutheran distinction. It isn’t. If you think that you’ve been misinformed.
If you’re a preacher & you’re not distinguishing law & gospel you’re actively harming your congregation. You are a legal preacher.
Luther, Melanchthon, Calvin (works/grace; law/gospel), Ursinus, Olevianus, Beza, Perkins, Fisher, Twisse et al are just SOME who distinguished law & gospel explicitly: #On_Law_and_Gospel">http://rscottclark.org/2012/09/classical-covenant-theology/ #On_Law_and_Gospel">https://rscottclark.org/2012/09/c...
