If this current shit fest about the #metooindia does not teach you the most important lesson about Social Media, then you wouldn't ever learn it.

If you want to stand behind and champion something you feel passionately about, let your voice be behind issues and not individuals.
Be especially wary of glib SM assholes with tonnes of online cred. You might find them fascinating for their extreme views that u aren't articulate enough to make yourself but mindlessly echoing their agenda is the worst thing u can do for the cause u thought u were fighting for.
Most such assholes, regardless of their gender, have a very similar modus operandi and they all have their own agendas to push. Whether it's political, social or any other issue, only these clowns will eventually benefit from it at the expense of your unpaid foot soldiering.
No one is all good or all bad. That's true of any individual. It's just that causes are far more important than their gatekeepers & influencers. Most such influencers will eventually use the cause for their own benefit and you can see this in almost every sphere on Social Media.
If you've blindly believed & amplified such callous idiots on Social Media, then you've also played a part in the derailment of any important social movement no matter how much you try to convince yourself otherwise. Self denial does not absolve you of your share of the blame.
In your outrage cycle based frenzy, you have also played a large part in drowning the voice of actual victims by amplifying the cacophony of noise created by band wagon climbing idiots who conflated their own stories that did not belong to that movement.
Referring specifically to #MeToo movement, social media gave a platform for victims to voice horrendous stories of abuse that so many women around us face. The importance of the issue can never be over emphasized. And now a few insidious assholes have taken it back many steps.
The acts of a few fraudulent champions are exactly the kind of stories misogynists & MRA assholes with cheap smartphones & free data use to cast aspersions on every true story of abuse. The waters have got murky & it's just a few individuals who've screwed this important movement
Ultimately it all boils down to the people who have been elevated to the status of flag bearers who have let this and other movements down.
So before you start proclaiming someone as Goddess, Kween, King, Overlord of something, just pause a while and think again, very carefully.
It's hard to differentiate between your voice and noise sometimes but it's completely fine to not have an opinion on every single fucking topic trending on Social Media. Extreme, toxic, perpetually contrarian, combative stances will rarely ever get you any results in the end.
SM is a toxic cesspool of the worst kind but it's still the best platform we've got in these confusing times, to rally behind important causes & to give a voice to marginalized & voiceless communities. Just choose ur battles & allies carefully. The loudest aren't always the best.
TL;DR : Issues are important. Individuals are not. Champion causes, not people. People are assholes.
