Yo! I want to take the time out to give everyone an up date on the COB. I am a North Nashville posted Black man, TSU graduate, member of the COB whose ancestors built Davidson County. First comes my identity, second comes my perspective. Everything here is my personal opinion.
1. Although Exec Director Weeden resigned, we still good. I have full faith in Interim Director Jill’s ability to maintain the stability of the MNCO staff. The board will be coming up with a process to search for the next director. Stay engaged.
2. If you’re involved in justice & equity work, please take care of yourself w/ as much dedication as you give the work. Yes, we need BIG institutional change. No, we don’t not need it at the expense of your life. Balance & preservation is just as critical as the actual work.
3. I look forward to working with our city’s elected officials and public servants. We need full participation to ensure the sustainability of the COB and MNCO.
I have full faith that Dr. Hildreth can successfully cement the COB & MNCO relationship with MNPD. That being said, the move by our public officials to make it a closed-door meeting limits transparency with the public.
Whenever there’s limited transparency and low community participation, working class, black, brown, and marginalized communities suffer. Keep the pressure and talk transparency, openness, and honesty.
4. You can sign up for updates on the http://nashville.gov  website. If that’s not the move for you. Shoot me a DM and I will hit you with dates as they come.
The people have fueled every social movement to date. Let’s keep working. If you have any suggestions on how we can include more people, or questions about the Board, comment below.

All power to you.
