When Republicans talk about "law and order," what they really mean is laws that uphold a specific order which puts white people ahead of everyone else. They are outraged by any law that undermines this order, and excuse anyone who breaks the law in order to uphold this order. https://twitter.com/tonyschwartz/status/1197304512626745344
It's very easy to think of Republicans as "hypocrites" for accusing Obama of breaking the law for waking up in the morning, while excusing blatant crimes by Trump. But that misses the point, because their mindset is VERY consistent when viewed through the lens of white supremacy.
This is what I was talking about in the thread above: The "crime" Obama is guilty of is upending the conservative order of white upper-class rule, which is obvious to them but mystifying to everyone else. It's not hypocritical, it's *perfectly* in line with their worldview.
The reason Democrats make so many strategical blunders is because they generally view Republicans as ignorant rubes who would vote the right way if we just give them enough "facts," when in truth they know EXACTLY what they are doing. Trying to win them over is a fool's errand.
This letter perfectly illustrates the white conservative mindset around "law and order." Their focus is not on obeying the law, but on enforcing the established social order. They fully understand the role police play in this, hence the threat at the end. https://twitter.com/YesYoureRacist/status/1280275390574067713?s=09
Note how they make it clear that in order to be "accepted" by white society, Black people must refrain from even criticizing white supremacy. Doing so makes you "unruly," an offense this letter-writer believes should be punished with arrest and possible execution.
Perfect example of what conservatives mean by "law and order," which in this case is the literal mafia enforcing a racial hierarchy
