people honestly believe colonists started a whole war with the British simply because they didn’t like how high taxes were on tea.
folks, washington and his bros started the revolutionary war because they didn’t want to be bound by British treaties with Native peoples
These treaties prohibited any expansion beyond the Allegheny mountains (Appalachia). Washington himself was a surveyor who wanted to expand colonial territory to this area. They started the revolution because they didn’t want to be bound by these treaties that they had no say in
“Taxation without representation” was part of it (we all know white men hate taxes) but the other part was they didn’t like not having a say in the laws and treaties made with Native peoples as well as other colonial empires.
The British empire were greedy as fuck as a whole, but British colonials were even greedier than the crown when it came to stealing land.
Washington was a psychopath who got so angry that some Native nations would not side with him that he went through burning whole towns to the ground. Washington literally started the french & indian war himself as a 22 yo bc he thought war was fun.
The revolutionary war was honestly not that revolutionary, at least not in a good way at all.
