The MENA is an entire region in which PTSD, CPTSD and Complex Trauma are widespread across generations. And there's virtually no therapy options, plus stigma around the topic. Working on this problem is an integral part of building a future.
People sometimes commend me for breaking the silence and speaking openly about my trauma and therapy. More need to come forward. I'm not the only story, this is an epidemic across the region. If we can't talk about it, how can we heal from it?
After years of trying out several therapy modalities, I can now tell you that your best therapist is your wiser self. Learning how to access your wiser self is what's needed, and it's not at all easy. If you have a way to regularly access your wiser self, you'll be fine.
So much can be added to this, but here's a thought: Therapy must extend to the men behind the guns. Those who did the shooting, the torture. They're deeply damaged themselves. They have caused so much pain that it scares them, and the more scared they are, the worse they get.
