I've been listening to a lot of hip-hop interviews and podcasts the last few days and it's been an absolute joy to re-engage with the art form in this way. It reminds me that hip-hop was the first thing I studied intensely and intently. Hip-hop taught me how to read and research.
I don't want to say more but I'm thinking about some kind of project around this stuff so stay tuned... or don't.

In the mean time I'll post some interviews/freestyles and things that I've liked a lot.
a snippet where David Banner bigs up Chicago and talks some Great MIgration ish.

Black Thought speaking at Harvard and towards the end drops a CRAZY acapella. The GOAT in my (correct opinion) @blackthought .

that time when @blackthought washed Method Man even though Meth is also an all-timer. This reminds me of when Charles Barkley talked about playing Jordan and realizing he just had an extra gear over everyone else.

the always excellent Redman touching on a few topics and kicking a small rhyme. One of your favorite rapper's favorites for sure.

Rakim talking about his history. F*ck the Breakfast Club though.

love to see the homie @chancetherapper tell Ebro that not only is he top 50 but he's top 5.

(Chance is top 50 for me and top 5 Chicago all-time)
Chicago legend Sam I Am The MC talking about how he first started rhyming.
This moment when Big Sean rapped incredibly well and then Kendrick washed him with a whole ars poetica/manifesto. This was probably when I started thinking about Kendrick seriously as an all time great.

a pretty thorough breakdown of the Jay-Z/Nas beef. TBH as a kid I thought Nas won but Jay-Z definitely won in hindsight and with the benefit of more mature ears. I also think this battle is maybe the most important thing in Jay's artistic trajectory.

great interview with Black Thought from the legends Stretch and Bobbito. Thought opens up about his home life and the murder of both of his parents.

Juan Ep was one of the very first hip-hop podcasts and they recently came back. This season is a deep dive in Jay-Z's journey and development.

Big fan of @TalibKweli new-ish podcast. Some of my favorite eps are Jemelle Hill, Too Short, Bun B, Robert Glasper, and Murs. Really looking forward to diving into the Lil Kim one when I get to it.
