1. I don't know if any of you remember the story I posted of Maria the Mountain lady 3 years ago, the lady that lives completely off grid with no amenities in one of the remotest areas I have ever visited in Romania, the Black valley in Moldova?
2. Well a member of her family contacted me last night and invited us on a 3 day trip next summer to visit her and write a follow-up story.
3. Maria uses oil lamps for light and collects water from a spring 200 metres away for drinking and cooking. When she needs to wash her clothes she carries them down to a nearby river. She lives in a single room with an earthen floor, small bed, stool, stove and a low lying table
4. Maria's roof is made up from individually hand crafted wooden tiles.
5. Some of Maria's livestock that she locks up in a small barn at night. She said a bear once broke into her barn and took a calf.
6. Most of the remaining photos were casual snaps so not good quality @WildPilgrims - That's Maria's granddaughter looking down from the terrace - apologies for my silly expression next to the hen house that needs some repair work.
