A thread about why you should own "Darkstalkers: Complete Works" by Capcom & Udon Entertainment
1. Darkstalkers is a Trilogy of 2D based monster fighting games, developed by Capcom in 1990’s. This book contains 224 pages of official color artwork, sketches, character designs, crossovers, and interviews with the entire staff. A must buy for any fight fanatic.
2. Color Gallery. At the very front of this book you’ll find a gorgeous selection of Darkstalkers tributes, and exclusive artwork from various Illustrators & Mangaka.
3. Character Files. 3 games, so you’ll find 3 versions of each character, with notes from designer Bengus (Gouda Cheese).
4. Sketches & Designs. Official concept art and sprites for each fighter as they appear before, and after the final cut.
5. Drafts. This book includes storyboards and rough cuts for the individual character endings, intro’s and motion ideas for their individually unique movelists.
6. Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors. Released in 1994, and highly praised for it’s fight mechanics, and colorful cast of fairy tale based characters, all designed by Bengus. This is also the 1st appearance of “Morrigan Aensland” who would become a flagship character at Capcom.
7. Darkstalkers Revenge. The sequel to Night Warriors was released in 1995, and introduced the concept of “Dark Hunters” with the addition of Donovan & Hsien-Ko. Character designer this time being series newcomer Daigo Ikeno.
8. Darkstalkers 3 A.K.A Vampire Savior. The 3rd and Final game in the trilogy came out in 1997, with updated sprites, combos and 4 new characters: Jedah, Q-Bee + Fan Favorites Lilith & B.B Hood.
9. Crossovers. This includes all of the Artwork for games where Darkstalkers characters appeared outside of their own series, such as Capcom vs SNK, Millenium Fight and MvC.
10. Bonuses. Last but not least, at the very end of this art book you’ll find Advertisements/Arcade Posters, interviews with the staff, and material from the Anime OVA. This book does a really great job of capturing every single aspect of the series. It's Absolutely Perfect.
