The true swing voters and the general election case for @KamalaHarris. A thread /1
I have talked a lot about how middle class white women are the only swing voters group among white people-not white men or the infamous WWC. In the past few years they have moved more and more towards the dem party /2 https://www.npr.org/2018/04/07/599573817/what-we-mean-when-we-talk-about-suburban-women-voters">https://www.npr.org/2018/04/0...
This demographic often cares about education, gun reform, crime, abortion, and sexual assault (look at the exit polls for Doug Jones) /3
. @MomsDemand is a great example of an organization rallying this group. Awesome candidates like @RepLucyMcBath appealed to them without sacrificing any progressive politics /4
A prosecutor with a strong record on prosecuting sexual assault, centering victims in her approach, a track record on public education issues, and strong gun reform and repro rights policies is exactly the candidate to appeal to them /5
Rather than chasing the wwc and assuming we need a white candidate to appeal to swing voters, look at who these swing voters are and who will actually drive them to the polls. @KamalaHarris is the candidate to drive turnout from the base AND appeal to swing voters
*This thread is not meant to suggest we coddle white people or only focus on this segment of swing voters for the election. A strong general election candidate first and foremost must drive turnout from the base and speak to black voters
