That Left anti-Semitism piece in the Times today mentions briefly a genuine free speech scandal that deserves more attention. A GW student got recorded making a drunken off-campus comment about Israel and the university called the police. Definitely a dumb, obnoxious, and anti-Semitic comment. Hateful stuff, without a doubt. But university administrators calling law enforcement? That& #39;s not okay, and I can& #39;t help but feel like the outrage would be a LOT greater if the speech at issue were coming from the Right.
I never know how much to plug these stories, especially when they involve students. Raising attention can backfire and make things worse for all involved. But since the Times piece brought it up, a bit more detail seems warranted.
