Last night @ifgevents, I said the NHS was in for an esp. dif winter following a summer of little recovery.

Latest data shows that fewer than 75% of people showing up at major A&Es were seen within 4hrs in October - lowest since records started.
This is partly because funding is not growing in line with demand.

- Number of A&E attendances grew 14.5% between Oct 2011 and Oct 2019

- NHS provider spending growth 15.4% between 2010/11 and 2018/19 (but rising cost pressures has meant £s go less far)
Increased attendances has meant the the number (not %!) of people being seen in Type 1 A&Es has been basically flat:
But not just about money:

- staff vacancies grown over last year
- new rules on pension contributions has reduce no. of consultants willing to work in some Trusts: https://twitter.com/GMDonald/status/1183346049643143169
