Very sad to hear about Tom’s death. His writing was a constant in our community - almost a given - but it was his sense of humour and kindnesses that also bound him to the cartoonists he supported https://twitter.com/AnnieKoyama/status/1194813427358806016
I think I only met him once at @SPXcomics 2013 and when I introduced myself he said he knew who I was and that I was doing interesting work and that tiny bit of acceptance meant so much to wide-eyed jet-lagged didn’t-know-what-he-was-doing Simon
Later at that same SPX he came to our table to chat with me @wcraghead and @whitecomics. We had Skyped @olivereast in the UK and had him appear on our table as a virtual guest. Tom had a chat with Oliver whose work he loved...
..then scolded us for having a laptop camera pointed at his crotch. He was a funny man. I did not know him well, but I will miss him. RIP Tom. May your trousers no longer be scrutinised by distant Mancunians.
Anyway I am off to see Lightning Bolt/ @CHIRPENDALE later and it seems fitting see a cartoonist perform tonight. I will raise a glass to Tom.
